About the Gallery

Cardboard Box Gallery is an exhibition and residency space in London. It supports a diverse range of emerging and mid-career contemporary artists by providing them with space and time to develop their practice affordably. The space encourages principles of individuality and adaptability, and the small size inspires a tight nit community of artists who are open to collaboration. The gallery gives artists, curators and theorists a platform to present work and share ideas as well as creating an environment for free-thinking and exchange, without the overwhelming experience of a large, free exhibition space.

Cardboard Box Gallery was founded in 2020 by artist Evangeline Baldwin in a Sainsbury's cardboard recycling bin.

This Gallery was founded on the greatly understood notion that the arts are central to society and in significant need of support. No change, good or bad, has been led without the suppression or liberation of the arts.
